Will Foote be back for Pittsburgh?
By Tim Kavanagh
Earlier this afternoon, we presented an argument as to why the Pittsburgh Steelers may field a roster this upcoming season that does not include OLB James Harrison. But there's another veteran LB whose future with the club is even more uncertain: ILB Larry Foote.
Foote is amongst the players with expiring deals from the 2012 roster, and GM Kevin Colbert hinted recently that there is no one on that list that the team is definitely re-signing, Foote obviously included. For some of those players, they'll take themselves elsewhere while others will attempt to secure a new deal from Colbert and his associates. Foote appears to be in that second cohort.
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Foote has indicated that he wants to come back, and wouldn't play elsewhere if he doesn't work something out to continue on in Pittsburgh. (He obviously missed the day in school when the idea of "leverage in contract talks" was being explained). The market for a player of Foote's age and ilk wouldn't be too strong anyways, but it appears he's decided what he wants to do for 2013.
