Gillislee to Detroit?

By Tim Kavanagh

The Senior Bowl is rolling this week, and that means two things for NFL teams: filling out the coaching staff and some additional in-person scouting of some of the top talent available in April's draft. For the Detroit Lions, it's more about the second endeavor than the first, and with several starters hitting free agency, there is certainly a possibility that multiple rookies could be playing significant roles this fall.

Justin Rogers of MLive.com profiled five specific players with which Lions fans should make themselves familiar this week, and at the top of the list is Florida RB Mike Gillislee. Gillislee is one of the fastest RBs in this year's draft class, and with a 5-foot-10, 210-pound frame, he can also make plays between the tackles.

The Lions have Mikel Leshoure returning for 2013 and possibly Jahvid Best, though the latter's return remains shrouded in mystery. Adding another weapon out of the backfield makes sense in that regard. Scouts, Inc. currently has the Gator ranked No. 7 amongst RBs in this year's class, and could be available for the Lions at some point on Day 2 of the draft.
