NFL return for Lilja?
By Tim Kavanagh
When veteran interior O-lineman Ryan Lilja called it a career at the end of the 2012 season, he didn't sound like a man who was set to pull a Brett Favre and un-retire soon thereafter. "Physically, you hit a wall and your body kind of tells you to start thinking about it," he lamented at the time, via the Kansas City Star. "I wanted to be in a place where I was at peace with my decision and could move forward and never regret it. I'm there." But just a few months later, he may not be there anymore.
According to what a person with knowledge of the situation has told the Star's Adam Teicher, the Chiefs have approached Lilja about a return, and the Kansas St. product is receptive to the notion.
Lilja played both guard and center during his career, though if he made a comeback, it's most likely he'd slide in at the LG spot, with Rodney Hudson and Jon Asamoah locked in at C and RG. The incumbent is Jeff Allen, and the club has already added utility interior OL Geoff Schwartz this offseason.
