Smith to become a Chief?

By AJ Mass

Andy Reid is going to need a new leader under center in Kansas City, and the NFL Draft is unlikely to offer anything worthy of the team's No. 1 overall pick. Yes, being reunited with Michael Vick, who may be on his way out in Philadelphia, is a possibility, but not at the price tag that Vick is likely expecting.

Could Alex Smith be the answer? As Colin Kaepernick continues to make Jim Harbaugh look like a genius, perhaps taking the San Francisco 49ers all the way to the Super Bowl, Smith becomes more and more likely to hit the road, especially with the hefty price tag of $10 million that would come with him for 2013.

The Chiefs are not the only place that it makes sense for Smith to end up next season. ESPN Insider Chris Sprow discusses more possible landing spots for the one-time San Francisco starter:

Trade fits for Alex Smith
"We can call Alex Smith just another Jim Harbaugh creation, but he might be a valuable one, because at the time he was benched he was playing the best football of his life. Smith finished the season with a passer rating if 104.8 which, had it been sustained, would rank behind only Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning."
