Jackson mulling retirement

By AJ Mass

In an interview with NFL.com's Michael Fabiano, Steven Jackson said he will meet with the St. Louis Rams in the offseason in order to determine his 2013 fate, but most notably, mentioned retirement as being on the table.

Jackson is no longer the sole option in the Rams backfield, and will turn 30 in July. With Daryl Richardson already handling close to one-third of the team's backfield touches and Isaiah Pead with one more year of experience under his belt, the Rams certainly could survive if Jackson decides to take the Barry Sanders route to early retirement.

That said, eight straight 1,000-yard campaigns on the ground is something that might not be all that easy to replace. We'd expect the team to do their best to convince the veteran to give it at least one more year.
