Amendola's hard truth
By AJ Mass
Sometimes the truth hurts, and in the case of Danny Amendola, it's the history of his getting hurt that is going to be the underlying truth that likely sends the wide receiver to free agency.
Although the St. Louis Rams have expressed interest in retaining Amendola's services, in order to place the franchise tag on the wide receiver, they'd have to believe in Amendola's ability to stay healthy long enough to warrant the expected $10 million price tag. Given the fact that over the last two seasons, he's missed more games (20) than he's played (12), and that negotiations between player and team have not produced any progress, it's likely Amendola will get a chance to see what the market will bear.
Odds are, though, that few teams will be willing to give Amendola more many than the Rams, so the truth is that eventually, the wide receiver might have to come back to St. Louis with a much smaller number at the start of that line of zeroes in his contract demands if he wants to suit up in the NFL in 2013.
