Possibility of a Cribbs return

By Tim Kavanagh

Cleveland Browns WR/returner Josh Cribbs saw his role with the team diminish in 2012, and that led to speculation that he would not be back on a new deal for 2013 and beyond. However, a new front office and coaching staff means that it's a whole new set of brains considering the possibility. So where do things stand now?

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns will meet with Cribbs' agent J.R. Rickert at the scouting combine this week to discuss the chances of a return for Cribbs.

"Josh has really built a foundation there with the city and with the team," Rickert noted. "Cleveland is a second home to him. But he's also a professional and he wants to play. If they if don't re-sign him, he'll pursue other options as they're available."

Cribbs also had some friction with the previous coaching staff regarding his role on offense, and this may be part of his decision-making process. ESPN AFC North blogger Jamison Hensley believes Cleveland may be ready to move on:

Time for another option
"The Browns are expected to add another wide receiver in the draft and they have a less expensive option in Travis Benjamin at returner."
