Freeney-Peyton reunion?
By Tom Carpenter
Per Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, defensive end Dwight Freeney said on PFT Live Wednesday that the Indianapolis Colts didn't even make him a contract offer. Whether that was because they felt certain he wouldn't accept whatever they may have been able to offer or because they simply didn't see him in their future plans matters little at this point. The bottom line is that he is now set for free agency this offseason.
Where might he end up next season? Freeney also said on PFT Live that former teammate Peyton Manning already has been recruiting Freeney to join him with the Denver Broncos. He could give them some nice depth on the end, but ESPN NFL Insider pegs defensive tackle as the Broncos' primary offseason need:

Bill Polian
Top offseason needs for every team"John Fox is a defensive-oriented coach and re-signing DT Kevin Vickerson is precisely the type of move I'd expect Fox to pursue. However, if Vickerson's price is too high, going for a younger defensive tackle -- particularly one with pass-rushing ability -- would be a priority. With QB Peyton Manning and a good defense, the Broncos are a team that is poised to go a long way. Steven Jackson also might make sense here at RB."
