Expectations for Hillman in '13
Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post expects Ronnie Hillman to see an increased workload in his second NFL season "if he can show more decisiveness in his running in the team's offseason work and he can continue to put in the time in pass protection."
"He turned just 21 during his rookie season. Overall, Hillman has enormous big-play potential, but he needs another offseason in an NFL strength program," Legwold added. "He also needs to accept what every young running back in the NFL needs to accept: that the time you had to look for an opening in college is no longer there."
Being strong and durable, protecting Peyton Manning on third downs and knowing when to hit the hole are all prerequisites to garnering touches in the Broncos backfield, so it will be interesting to see how he progresses this offseason in those facets of his game. His overall role in 2013 will depend a lot on whether the Broncos opt to release Willis McGahee (unlikely) and Knowshon Moreno (more likely). Regardless, Hillman will be worth keeping a close eye on as a potential fantasy sleeper in 2013, if things go well for him.
