Packers' 2013 starting RB
By Tom Carpenter
The Green Bay Packers shuttled myriad running backs through their offense this season but none of them really stepped up as an obvious long-term solution. When asked in a chat who would be the primary ball-carrier next season, Packers.com's Mike Spofford thinks we may not know the answer to that question for many months.
"... I honestly have no idea," he said. "I think the Packers could bring [Cedric Benson] back. I think [Alex Green] will be a different player another year removed from ACL surgery. [DuJuan Harris] is obviously intriguing. [James Starks] has loads of talent if he can stay healthy. But with all that unknown, they could draft somebody, and pretty high, too. I honestly don't think your question will be answered until maybe the third preseason game next summer. Honestly."
In the draft, the Packers may take a look at in-state product Montee Ball out of Wisconsin, but ESPN NFL Insider's Mel Kiper Jr. has Ball going to the Cincinnati Bengals in his initial mock draft, five spots before he has the Packers taking Stanford tight end Zach Ertz.
