More buzz on RG III
By Tim Kavanagh
Since the day that Robert Griffin III's knee buckled under him on the shoddy FedEx Field playing surface, it's been a game of speculation as to when he'd be ready to return to action; the important question, naturally, has been whether he'd be back in time to suit up for Week 1 of the regular season.
The most recent update came from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, who passed along what he'd heard from high-ranking Washington sources: they felt confident that Griffin would be good to go for Week 1. The official word at this point from GM Bruce Allen is a little more cautious.
"He's progressing well," Allen confirmed, via the Washington Times. "It's not one of those things where we're going to be able to update you every week and all of that. He's on schedule or ahead of schedule, and it's really because of the work ethic you know he has."
Given the stature of RGIII, there will be demand for an update just about every week, even if the Redskins don't feel like giving us one. But the important part of the message is that the QB still remains on track in his recovery, and being back on the field by Week 1 has not been ruled out.
