The Salsa or the Tiger?
By AJ Mass
There's a classic short story called "The Lady or the Tiger" that ends - spoiler alert - with the reader left to decide which of the two things mentioned in the tale's title awaits behind the door that is to be opened at the end. It's a story of a no-win situation where all parties involved end up without getting everything they want.
That's the same situation facing the New York Giants, who certainly would love to lock up wide receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks to longterm deals. Both players seem to want to stay in New York. However, the salary cap seems to dictate that a choice is going to need to be made - and soon.
Cruz is a restricted free agent this year. Nicks' contract has one year left on it. The team is negotiating with both men, but may soon come to realize they can't afford both men. So who will it be? Nicks or Cruz? What is the ending to our story?
ESPN.com's Dan Graziano has an idea what lies behind the door for the Giants:

It's not crazy if Giants pick Nicks over Cruz"Yes, Cruz is the one with the flashier numbers over the past couple of years. No one is arguing his accomplishments. He has 168 catches for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns -- numbers that rank among the very best in the NFL for wide receivers. Over the same time period, Nicks has 129 catches for 1,884 yards and 10 touchdowns and has missed four games due to injury. Seems like a no-brainer, right? "
