Tag on the way for Cook?
By Tim Kavanagh
We've had months and months to speculate over just who would be getting hit with their team's franchise tag this offseason, and the official announcement of these designations can begin as early as this coming Tuesday, with a deadline of March 4. On Friday, a report indicated that the Denver Broncos plan on tagging OT Ryan Clady, but this will not be the last.
For instance, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, the Tennessee Titans are "expected" to use the franchise tag on impending free agent TE Jared Cook. The tag tender value for TEs is pretty reasonable -- $5.967 million -- in comparison to other positions, and the Titans don't seem particularly close to reaching a long-term agreement with the South Carolina product, based upon previous reports. So, it follows that the tag would be a logical consideration.
