Minnesota's top FA priority
By Tim Kavanagh
It was a bit of a surprise for some people to see the Minnesota Vikings qualify for the playoffs in 2012; Adrian Peterson was coming off a torn ACL late in the 2011 season and there were questions about QB Christian Ponder and the defense at-large. Peterson wound up doing alright for himself, and while Ponder wasn't exactly dominant, he did what he needed to do to keep the team alive.
Some defensive questions remain looking ahead to 2013, but one of the big priorities this offseason is going to be finding Ponder some help at WR. This idea becomes especially true if the rumored trade of Percy Harvin comes to fruition. In a post assessing the Vikes in 2013, Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated writes that it would make sense for the team to make a run at some of the top-flight wideouts on the market this offseason such as Dwayne Bowe, Mike Wallace and Greg Jennings.
ESPN's John Clayton previously reported that the Vikes are around $16.1 million under the projected salary cap for 2013, which gives them ample room to make an aggressive play for the WRs in question depending upon what they do with their own free agents in the coming weeks.
