Hillis sticking in AFC West?

By Tim Kavanagh

For impending free agents of any of the teams with new head coaches and/or GMs this offseason, their fate is certainly more up in the air than their counterparts on teams that retained the men making decisions on personnel. Kansas City Chiefs players are in that boat, as the club has a new GM and HC, and amongst those on the list is RB Peyton Hillis.

Hillis had just 85 rushes for 309 yards in 2012 (3.6 YPA), but in theory he still possesses the ability to function as a bruising big back for a team that already has a speedier space RB. The Atlanta Falcons seem like a perfect fit, but in the opinion of ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson, all four teams in that division could be interested to varying degrees. Of the four, Oakland sticks out as a particularly strong fit:

Hillis staying in AFC West?
"[Signing with the Raiders] would reunite Hills with Arkansas backfield mate Darren McFadden. It would be interesting. Oakland could use a big back, and Hillis likely won't be expensive. I could see this being a real fit. "
