Randle's role with Giants
By Tom Carpenter
The New York Giants will have some tough financial decisions to make over the next year or so when it comes to their wide-receiver corps; Victor Cruz is a restricted free agent this offseason and Hakeem Nicks will be unrestricted next offseason. Assuming they work things out with Cruz this offseason, Giants.com's Michael Eisen expects second-year pro Rueben Randle to secure the No. 3 job behind Cruz and Nicks.
"Clearly, he needs to provide more consistent production. But the Giants believe he will do that as an NFL sophomore," he wrote. "Right now, Randle is the heavy favorite to be the Giants’ third wideout in 2013, with Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz as the starters. Assuming his stays healthy, I would be very surprised if Randall didn't at least double his number of reception next season."
Randall caught 19 passes for 298 yards 3 touchdowns as a rookie, so Eisen's projection would push him to about 40 catches and maybe 600 yards. That's enough production for deep-league fantasy players to take note. More intriguing might be his potential as a fill-in starter if Nicks or Cruz gets hurt. Randle had 6 catches for 82 yards in Week 5 and 4 catches for 48 yards and 2 TDs in the season finale.
