Stanton to Arizona?

By Tim Kavanagh

It's no secret that the Arizona Cardinals are one of the teams looking to bolster their QB rotation this offseason, perhaps finding a new starter, and with a new coaching staff (and GM) already in place, that appears to be something regarded as a high priority now. As it turns out, one of the players with whom new HC Bruce Arians has experience may be one of the options brought in.

"There are some rumblings that Colts backup quarterback Drew Stanton may follow Bruce Arians out west to Arizona," Dan Pompei of National Football Post reveals. "Arians was impressed with how Stanton performed in preseason and practiced all season with the Colts, and he needs a quarterback. The fact that Stanton knows Arians' offense and fits in it gives Stanton an edge. Stanton is likely to have multiple suitors, but the Cardinals' opportunity might be the most intriguing for him because it could be his best chance to be a starter."

The key decision-makers have publicly stated that they're still evaluating incumbent starter Kevin Kolb, and of the others, only 2012 draft pick Ryan Lindley is guaranteed a roster spot (and he doesn't appear to be a threat to be a starter at this point, based upon what we saw in 2012). Acquiring Stanton gives them another contestant in the QB battle, though he may not be the only one brought in.
