More buzz on Melton and the Bears
By Tim Kavanagh
The list of Chicago Bears impending unrestricted free agents is a long one, 18 deep and led by QB Jason Campbell, CBs Kelvin Hayden and D.J. Moore, DE Israel Idonije, OG Lance Louis, DT Henry Melton and LBs Nick Roach and Brian Urlacher. And while the decision on Urlacher is the most stressful to followers of the club, Melton may be their top priority.
Kip Lewis of CSN Chicago acknowledges that the Bears are interested in re-signing the Texas product, but that his value in the club's new defensive scheme may not be as high as in the old one; furthermore, there will be a substantial market for Melton's services, and one team that could be particularly interested is the Dallas Cowboys, who now employ former Bears DC Rod Marinelli. The Bears could always use the franchise tag on Melton, though it's unclear how willing they are to do that. Stay tuned.
