Jets going guard shopping?

By Tim Kavanagh

Tasked with rebuilding the New York Jets' roster in the seasons ahead, while navigating a difficult salary cap situation, new GM John Idzik has a number of options up and down the roster when it comes to signing free agents and using their draft capital. One area where there may be an investment is at OG.

Both starters from 2012 -- Brandon Moore and Matt Slauson -- are impending free agents, and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com believes that both could be left to explore the free agent market. Vladimir Ducasse remains on the roster, and is an option at LG, which leaves an opening on the right side.

Cimini notes that while there is a great prospect at the top of this year's draft class at OG -- Alabama's Chance Warmack -- it's unlikely that the Jets would invest the No. 9 overall pick in a player on the interior O-line. This could be a spot where a mid- to late-round selection finds himself in the mix, along with a lower-priced veteran FA.
