Vick out multiple weeks?
By Tom Carpenter
Michael Vick's hamstring injury is expected to keep him on the sideline Sunday, so Nick Foles will start and Matt Barkley will back him up. Vick and coach Chip Kelly have gone out of the way to downplay the severity of the injury and suggest that he would return soon. However, Vick hinted Saturday that he could be out a while longer.
“Right now, still working to get back to it -- get to 100 percent, you know,” Vick told Comcast SportsNet’s Derrick Gunn. “So it's going to be a long road.”
There shouldn't be much fear of a quarterback controversy if Foles leads the Eagles to a Week 6 win over the 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, if Vick's "long road" to recovery keeps him out next week and Foles takes down the Dallas Cowboys, things could get interesting. Nonetheless, considering how crucial Vick's wheels are to his success, it's safe to assume they will want him as close to 100 percent as possible before putting him back out on the field, which likely puts Week 7 in doubt.
