Latest on the Eagles' DC search
By Tim Kavanagh
UPDATE: A decision has been made.
Geoff Mosher of CSN Philadelphia has reported that the Eagles' choice is Billy Davis, formerly the LB coach in Cleveland.
The Philadelphia Eagles are taking their time to make the right decision as to the identity of their next defensive coordinator, but we could get some movement on this front in the near future.
With candidates currently employed by both Super Bowl contestants, that limited their availability until this week. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that while the speculation on 49ers DB coach Ed Donatell as the Eagles' next DC has proven untrue, the club is, in fact, interested in Ravens assistant Ted Monachino.
The other event that occurred this week that impacts the Eagles' (and Saints') search was Wednesday's national signing day for high school prospects making their collegiate choice official. Some believe that certain coaches stayed through that day so as to not sway the decisions of certain recruits. This line of thinking applies to Georgia DC Todd Grantham, who is reportedly on the Eagles' radar and will interview with New Orleans on Friday.
Now that everyone is available to interview -- and the Eagles need to get their offseason player acquisition strategies solidified -- it shouldn't be too much longer before the club decides on a new DC.
