Ginn to Cleveland?

By Tim Kavanagh

Regarding impending free agent WR/returner Ted Ginn, a reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer quoted Ginn's father as saying that his son would likely move on from the 49ers, and the speculation turned to where the Ohio State product would wind up.

Well, how about Cleveland?

Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland asked the Cleveland native specifically about playing for the Browns, and he replied, "One day, yeah, I hope so. If it's the best situation for me and my family. I hope one day. But you've got Josh [Cribbs]."

The Browns are only going to have Cribbs another few weeks, as his contract is set to expire and there's been little movement towards re-signing him. Of more immediate concern if Ginn really wants to play for Cleveland is the emergence of Travis Benjamin, who was responsible for a 93-yard punt return TD and had a 28.0 YPA average on his other attempts. As for Ginn's attempts at carving out a role as a wide receiver, the Browns have Josh Gordon and Greg Little in addition to Benjamin, so there isn't an automatic vacancy, necessarily.
