Peppers to have big game?
By Nic Reiner
Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth was officially listed as out for his team's Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Whitworth's absence could mean All-Pro defensive end Julius Peppers is in for a big game to start off the 2013 season.
Sixth-year man Anthony Collins will start for Whitworth and will be tasked with containing Peppers on the left side of the line. The job will surely be a challenging way to start the year for the often under-utilized Collins.
"I'll be fully confident if it comes upon him because he's a guy that can do it and can do it anywhere else," Whitworth said of Collins earlier in the week. "He'd be starting anywhere else in the league if he had the opportunity to."
Collins hasn't started at left tackle since the last six games of his rookie season but has started at right tackle 12 times since then.
Peppers finished with 11.5 sacks in 2012 and has 111.5 sacks on his career, third-most among active players. One can expect Peppers to have an impactful debut and quarterback Andy Dalton to be even more vulnerable from his left side.
