RG III's 2013 debut date

By Tim Kavanagh

On Sunday morning, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that while the league has asked the Washington Redskins for an update on the recovery of Robert Griffin III -- so as to aid in their potential scheduling of Redskins games in prime-time slots -- the only thing that's a near certainty at this point is that the QB will begin training camp on the PUP list.

However, the Baylor product has a different spin on the situation. On a night when he received the award as the AP's NFL offensive rookie of the year, he displayed his surgically repaired stride and on the subject of his being ready to play by Week 1 of 2013, he quipped, "No doubt in my mind," per the Washington Times.

Bear in mind that Griffin didn't want to come out of the game in which he was injured, and so his analysis may not be as ironclad as that of physicians. Nevertheless, the vision of seeing Griffin in such good spirits -- and relatively good shape -- so soon after surgery is an encouraging sign.
