Lineman Jason Spitz is drawing interest
By Brent Sobleski
A pair of teams in dire need of offensive line help recently had veteran free agent Jason Spitz in for a workout.
"Former Packers and Jaguars C/G Jason Spitz visited the Raiders and Steelers this week, source confirmed," ESPN NFL contributor Adam Caplan tweeted.
Oakland Raiders' general manager Reggie McKenzie was a part of the Green Bay scouting department that originally drafted Spitz.
Spitz spent last season in Jacksonville on injured reserve. He started 43 of 75 career games. The bulk of those starts came in his first three seasons. Spitz only started four games since. But the Raiders and Steelers are desperate. Both teams' offensive lines are struggling. Spitz may not be the answer for either, but he's a veteran swing option at both guard and center.
