Ravens fans less confident?

By AJ Mass

Any poll has room for statistical error, so there's no reason for the results of the latest SportsNation survey of fan opinion towards the upcoming Super Bowl to be taken as gospel. That being said, there is something peculiar about the current numbers regarding the disconnect between professed fan allegiance and predictions for the game.

When asked which team people are rooting for in the game, the San Francisco 49ers currently come out ahead by a margin of 52-48 percent. However, that gap increases to 54-46 when the question "Which team will win Super Bowl XLVII?" is posed. Like I said, there's no science at work here, but it is interesting that the numbers are not consistent.

Baltimore Ravens fans may well be 100 percent behind their team this Sunday, but perhaps they are a little bit more worried that Ray Lewis's swan song ends on a sour note than they're willing to admit.
