Cruz being quiet
By AJ Mass
Victor Cruz is trying to say the right things and let the negotiations between his agent and the New York Giants play out without too much involvement on his end. After all, he gets paid to play football, and his negotiating team gets paid to make sure that payment is as high as possible. There's no need for him to get involved.
Except of course, when that lack of involvement gets blown out of proportion by reporters. The New York Daily News writes that Cruz was asked if he would consider a holdout and responded, "I have no answer to that." Suddenly, Cruz is being "ominous" and the door is open to things "getting uglier."
Yes, sometimes, where there is smoke, fire is there as well. In this case, we think it might just be an instance where a mountain is being made out of a molehill. The two sides still have until March 12 to agree on a long-term extension by March 12, before Cruz becomes a restricted free agent. Don't expect any comments by Cruz before then, save for a press conference to announce a deal.
