New deal for Reshad Jones?

By Tim Kavanagh

The Miami Dolphins counted Reshad Jones as one of their 11 defenders on the field for 1,140 of their 1,146 defensive plays this season. To say he's a building block as they attempt to push themselves back into the ranks of NFL contenders is an understatement. But, he's entering the final year on his current contract, a pact that will pay him a base salary of $1.323 million for 2013.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins may get a head-start on things, and offer Jones a contract extension this offseason. While it'll take some of the pressure off of the situation heading into next offseason, they can also structure the new pact in a way that fits their salary cap needs.
