In previewing the Dallas Cowboys' 2013 season, some were of the belief that the shift to Monte Kiffin's defensive system could serve to resuscitate DT Jay Ratliff's career: his play had been on the decline in recent campaigns, and he missed 10 games in 2012 due to a variety of injuries.
