UPDATE: ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported Thursday night that Seahawks executive John Idzik has emerged as the clear front-runner for the Jets' GM vacancy, and that an official decision could come soon. ESPN AFC East blogger James Walker reacted to that development (see below).
The New York Jets went through an extensive search for the successor to GM Mike Tannenbaum, interviewing a wide swath of candidates with a variety of backgrounds. Some came up through the scouting pathway, while others were more focused on contract negotiations, salary cap finagling and other business-oriented aspects of the job. After nearly three weeks of searching, it appears they've zeroed in a couple finalists, and could have a decision as early as Thursday.
