When the Chicago Bears elected to fire HC Lovie Smith the day after the season ended, WR/returner Devin Hester was upset, hinting that he wasn't certain he wanted to continue his NFL career thereafter, and especially with the Bears. However, Hester has seemingly cooled off those bold remarks in the time since (and is still under contract). With the hire of offensive guru Marc Trestman as Smith's successor, there has been speculation that there could be a role on offense for Hester in addition to his work on special teams.
