Fantasy handcuff breakdown

If you own LeSean McCoy in a fantasy league and were watching the Philadelphia Eagles battle the Washington Redskins on Sunday, your season probably flashed before your eyes when Shady went down clutching his right hamstring. Fortunately, he returned to action and looked great the rest of the way. He will have the Eagles' Week 12 bye to get some extra rest, but the fact that he or any other stud running back out there could be felled by an injury at any moment is an important reminder to make sure you have quality handcuff options rostered.

Let's take a look at the top handcuffs (excluding running back by committees) who might be available in your league:

  • Bryce Brown (feature back: LeSean McCoy), Eagles: It was a year ago this week that Brown exploded for 189 total yards and two touchdowns in McCoy's absence. He followed that up with 183 total yards and two TDs the next week before fading away. Now he has a year of experience under his belt and is in coach Chip Kelly's potent offensive system. He's a fantasy lotto ticket who should be owned in all leagues, even if you don't have McCoy on your roster.
