Expectations for Denver's orange Julius

When the Denver Broncos drafted hoopster-turned-football player Julius Thomas they had visions of him following in the footsteps of greats -- like Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham -- who went from balling on the hardwood to scoring on the gridiron. Unfortunately, injuries derailed those plans, as Thomas missed all but nine games during his first two NFL campaigns. To date, he has a lone reception (back in 2011) to his name, and he currently has veteran TEs Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme ahead of him on the depth chart. However, both of them are nursing injuries, and Thomas has looked sure-handed thus far in the preseason, catching all eight of the passes targeted for him in the first two preseason games for a total of 105 yards. On Saturday, he reeled in four of his six targets for 18 yards.
