Tight end Dustin Keller took a financial gamble as a free agent this summer by turning down a long-term deal with the Miami Dolphins, opting instead to ink a one-year deal. It made some sense at the time, because injuries limited him to eight games in 2012, and a shoddy New York Jets offense limited him to just 28 catches for 317 yards and 2 TDs in those appearances. His thinking was that by joining an offense on the rise, he could have a big statistical season and go for a much better long-term payday as he entered his age-30 season next year.
