UPDATE: Riley Cooper rejoined the Eagles for practice on Tuesday after taking four days away from the team to receive counseling. Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Cooper got "some work with the first team. No different than before he left" and ESPN reported that Cooper is expected to play in Friday's preseason opener versus the Patriots. So long as he can hold off the competition noted below, it appears he is in position to be their No. 2 wideout in Week 1.

Russell Shepard went undrafted out of LSU, but with Jeremy Maclin and B.J. Cunningham down with injuries, and Riley Cooper away from the team, the rookie has been working with the first-team offense as the No. 2 receiver behind DeSean Jackson. It's a position he may take all the way into the regular season, according to CSNPhilly.com's Reuben Frank.
