Ravens to get McClain back?

4/4/2014

After inking a contract with the Baltimore Ravens last year, Rolando McClain was arrested for the third time in two years and soon after announced his retirement. However, he reportedly has been taking classes at Alabama, working out hard and is considering a return to the NFL.

"He has yet to make any formal announcement regarding his plans to play this season. 'Nothing is set in stone,' he says. But he expects to meet with Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome Friday to discuss a possible future with Baltimore while Newsome is in Alabama," Matt Zenitz of the Carroll County Times wrote.

"... Baltimore still feels like McClain has the potential to be a game-changing-type player in the NFL like he was at the University of Alabama," he added.

The Ravens own his rights, and McClain said that if all goes well when he meets with Newsome, he intends to join his teammates for voluntary workouts on April 21.

Owner Steve Bisciotti is open to the idea of McClain returning to the Ravens.

“It’s got to be hard getting a multi-million dollar contract and finding yourself back at Alabama taking classes with 19-year olds. So the fact he’s done that says a lot to me,” Bisciotti said. “If Ozzie wants to give him a shot, I’m all for it because I think that how he’s handled the last year has been very impressive, very admirable.”
