ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim noted Tuesday morning that, "The Washington Redskins and wide receiver DeSean Jackson appear to be moving closer to an agreement on a contract, sources told ESPN."
Still, it's no surprise that a couple of other teams reportedly have gotten into the mix in the meantime.
"Per source: San Francisco has now thrown their hat in the ring for DeSean Jackson," she added later.
Since the Redskins are the first team to meet with D-Jax, they certainly appear to be the front-runner to sign him. Nonetheless, Jackson wants to get paid as much as possible, so hearing that other teams are being drawn in makes plenty of sense; whether that's to inflate the deal he eventually signs with the Redskins or because there is genuine mutual interest between Jackson and the Niners or Browns.
The Oakland Raiders have been connected to Jackson, too. However, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reported that the Raiders are leery about inking the wideout "because of Jackson’s reputation as a me-first player who can’t be controlled."
The only fact we have about DeSean Jackson's free agency right now is that he is meeting with the Washington Redskins. Beyond that, there is plenty of buzz.
