Long-term concerns for Romo, Cowboys

Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Tony Romo has a herniated disk in his back and needs surgery. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Romo is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Jerry Jones hasn't ruled out Romo playing in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Time will tell how things play out this weekend, but in hindsight, it appears clear that the Cowboys knew more about this back situation than they let on when he inked his contract extension during the offseason.
