After Dennis Pitta had six catches (on 11 targets) for 48 yards and a touchdown in his season debut in Week 14, I cautioned readers in last Friday's fantasy checkdown that the tight end likely would come back down to earth against the Detroit Lions D, since it is proficient at slowing down tight ends. Sure enough, he mustered just two receptions (on four targets) for 24 yards.

Will his production pick up in Week 16 against the New England Patriots? Pitta thinks so.

"I think it was just kind of how the flow of the game was; I didn't get many opportunities on the field," Pitta said. "It's part of what we're doing and taking it slow and not overloading my reps. Part of that game when I was out there, we saw some bracket coverage, things where opportunities are going to be minimal in those situations. We'll see new things out of New England that they haven't shown before, and we'll have to kind of work on the fly."

Pitta has looked pretty healthy in his first two games, though the Ravens have taken it easy with his workload. He took part in 45.4 percent of their offensive snaps against the Lions after being on the field for 42.3 percent of the Ravens' plays the week prior. As for his Week 16 matchup, the Patriots D is much more vulnerable to opposing tight ends. It has allowed an average of 7.8 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, which makes Pitta a much more intriguing play this weekend, especially for teams dealing with injuries to guys like Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Cameron.
