Gary A. Vasquez/USA TODAY SportsWill the Eagles take a serious look at Stanford DE Trent Murphy late in the draft?Trying to make the jump from college head coach to pro head coach has humbled many talented coaches, most notably Alabama's Nick Saban. There are, however, three former Pac-12 head coaches showing that successful college coaches can enjoy similar success in the NFL.
Seattle's Pete Carroll (USC) became just the third coach (after Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer) to win a Super Bowl and a college championship when the Seahawks blew out Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII. Jim Harbaugh's (Stanford) 49ers came up just short in Super Bowl XLVII two years ago and in the 2011 and 2013 NFC Championship games his other two seasons at the helm. Chip Kelly (Oregon) led an Eagles organization that went 4-12 in 2012 to a 10-6 record and an NFC East championship as a rookie head coach last year.
One of the benefits of making the jump from the college to the pro game is the familiarity with draft prospects and young players.
