McShay Mock Draft 1.0: New York Jets

The circus in New York hasn’t stopped for the 5-9 Jets this season, even with Tim Tebow gone. Geno Smith has been up and down as a rookie QB, despite a dearth of skill position players on the outside. Rex Ryan’s team has a terrific defensive line, led by 2013 first-round pick Sheldon Richardson, and a strong defense overall. However, first-round CB Dee Milliner had struggled at times. The big question in New York, though, is the same as it has been in recent years: Do they have a franchise QB on this roster?

Todd McShay released his first 2014 mock draft Wednesday, and in doing so identified the biggest areas of need for the Jets: wide receiver, outside linebacker, safety, quarterback, tight end and offensive tackle. Here’s who McShay believes will provide the best fit for the Jets in Round 1.
