McShay Mock Draft 1.0: Minnesota Vikings

After a 10-6 campaign last season in which they made the playoffs, things haven’t gone according to plan for the Vikings this season. Christian Ponder hasn’t taken the next step and has been benched in favor of Josh Freeman and Matt Cassel. Youth in the secondary and an aging defensive line have contributed to five blown leads in the final minute of games. The Vikings would have a top-10 pick if the season ended today.

Whom should the Vikings take?

Todd McShay released his first 2014 mock draft Wednesday, and in doing so identified the biggest areas of need for the Vikings. Minnesota needs help at QB, defensive end, guard and strong safety opposite Harrison Smith. Here’s who McShay believes will provide the best fit for Minnesota in Round 1.
