Kiper's Mock 3.0: Cardinals

Until free agency, everyone knew what the Arizona Cardinals needed first and foremost in May’s NFL draft, so it made sense that ESPN NFL draft Insider Mel Kiper Jr. predicted them drafting offensive tackles in his first two mock drafts.

In his first draft, Kiper slotted Notre Dame’s Zack Martin for Arizona, and in 2.0, it was Alabama’s Cyrus Kouandjio. Kiper was right -- the Cardinals' primary need this offseason was a left tackle.

But all that changed Tuesday, when Arizona signed free-agent left tackle Jared Veldheer. The Cardinals will now most likely go with the best-player-available philosophy, but it’s likely they chase a safety, defensive lineman, linebacker or tight end with the 20th pick.
