Kiper Mock Draft 1.0: Oakland Raiders

And with the fifth pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Oakland Raiders select . . .

Patience, everyone, patience. The Raiders are still in evaluation mode and have 18 unrestricted free agents to deal with, and, well, our own Mel Kiper Jr. is about to unveil his own Mock Draft 1.0.

But if the draft were held today, where should the 4-12 Raiders go?

Obviously, there are plenty of needs -- from a franchise quarterback of the future, to a playmaking receiver, to a prototypical pass-rushing defensive end.

At quarterback, Central Florida's Blake Bortles and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel have been linked to Oakland, though the Raiders could get Fresno State's Derek Carr or Alabama's AJ McCarron later.

At receiver, Clemson's Sammy Watkins would address a need, as would South Carolina's sack-happy defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and UCLA pass-rushing linebacker Anthony Barr, especially if the Raiders show more 3-4 looks on defense.

So much, though, depends upon what the Raiders do in free agency, as they are scheduled to have an unprecedented $60 million-plus in salary-cap room.

Take a peep at Kiper's Mock Draft 1.0 in the meantime to see which college players the Raiders should target with their initial selection.
