Tautalatasi next De La Salle standout
By Erik McKinney
Though its success has been mostly built on structure, discipline and a desire to win rather than an abundance of college prospects, Concord (Calif.)De La Salle was blessed with both last season, as a 15-0 team sent four defensive standouts on to the next level.
Tautalatasi rushed for 1,034 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, contributing 40 tackles, two interceptions and a sack on defense. This spring, Tautalatasi has showcased himself at safety, where he helped his AIGA team to a tournament win at the NLA Las Vegas 7-on-7. And in true De La Salle fashion, Tautalatasi said he has no preference as to where he lines up going forward.
"Right now I'm 50-50 on running back and safety," he said. "I have no preference. I'll play wherever the team needs me most."
At this point, Utah State has expressed the most interest in Tautalatasi and said a scholarship offer could be coming soon. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound athlete added that he has heard from California, Oregon, UCLA, UNLV and USC early in the process.
