Talent remains at American Canyon
By Erik McKinney
American Canyon (Calif.) High School held the Pac-12's interest last year with athlete Chris Seisay, who signed with Oregon after receiving offers from Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Washington State, among others. In the 2014 class, American Canyon boasts two players worth keeping an eye on, as college coaches have already taken notice.
Jomon Dotson, a 6-foot, 175-pound running back, received an offer this past signing day, as Northwestern became the first program to offer the speedy back. Pac-12 powers Oregon and USC have also expressed interest in Dotson, who rushed for 2,148 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior. According to head coach Ian MacMillan, Dotson will attend camps at Oregon and USC this summer and will be at the Northern California Nike Camp in May.
The other standout is Malik Beachum, a 5-foot-9, 153-pound athlete capable of playing wide receiver or cornerback at the next level. MacMillan said Arizona is expressing early interest as a cornerback, while USC coaches see him as a slot receiver. As a junior, Beachum caught 24 passes for 433 yards and seven touchdowns and made 35 tackles with three interceptions on defense. Beachum already attended a junior day at Arizona and is being actively recruited by both Arizona schools. Beachum will also be in attendance at the Nike Camp this spring.
