Top three LB naming more visits soon
By Jared Shanker
With the upcoming season on the horizon, 2014 high school prospects can begin planning official visits for the fall. ESPN 300 linebacker Clifton Garrett (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) has named his first official visit.
Garrett, No. 59 in the ESPN 300, will officially visit Ole Miss the weekend of Oct. 18.
It is an interesting visit on several fronts. Ole Miss has been successful recruiting the Chicagoland area under coach Hugh Freeze, getting Anthony Standifer in 2012 and No. 1 receiver Laquon Treadwell this past February. Fellow ESPN 300 linebacker Nyles Morgan, who goes to the same school as Standifer and Treadwell went to, is also high on the Rebels. Garrett is the No. 1 player in Illinois in 2014.
It will be the second visit to Ole Miss for Garrett, who previously visited during the spring. It should be noted the Rebels will play LSU that weekend, as the Tigers are in the lead for the No. 3 inside linebacker nationally.
Garrett was looking to make a few more SEC unofficial visits this summer, but he said Thursday he will likely take official visits to Florida, LSU and Tennessee. He has already visited the Gators and Tigers unofficially. Garrett said he will release the details of those visits in the near future.
The fifth and final visit for Garrett will likely go to one of Alabama, Oregon and USC. The Tide hosted Garrett during the spring.
A decision will likely come at the U.S. Army All-America Game.
