Fresno (Calif.) Washington Union teammates and cousins Tee Shepard and Deontay Greenberry were both planning to officially visit USC this weekend, but it now appears only one of them will make the visit.
Shepard and Greenberry committed to Notre Dame early in the process but added they wanted to take their official visits. The two visited Arizona State together and after attending the USC-UCLA game last weekend, they were set to officially visit the Trojans this week.
“Coach [Ed] Orgeron came and visited me at the hill where I was working out,” Shepard said. “They want to get me and Deontay up for an official visit and I was going to go but I decided I don’t want to do that now. I was planning to go if Deontay went and he’s for sure going but out of respect for Notre Dame, I think I’m going to pass.
“I’m really solid with Notre Dame and I’m excited to graduate early and get there in the spring. Coach [Brian] Kelly and [coach Mike] Denbrock were here on Sunday for a home visit and I know they don’t want me to visit anywhere else and I’m going to respect that. I was only going for Deontay -- we always travel together -- but I’m going to stay home.”
Greenberry said he’s still planning to visit regardless.
“Yeh I’m going, I’m looking forward to it,” Greenberry said. “USC has been recruiting me for a while and they have a great program. They’re recruiting me for safety and receiver but more so receiver right now. I’m still committed to Notre Dame but I want to do these visits so I have something to compare it with. I like ASU too but the staff is gone so I’m not sure what’s going on there.”
