Four-star OT Tagaloa enjoys visit to Oregon

Offensive lineman Freddie Tagaloa (Richmond, Calif./Salesian) took his first official visit of the year late last week to Oregon and the Ducks made a up a lot of ground for the tackle.

The Ducks played a Thursday night game last week and with a bye on his schedule, Tagaloa spent three days in Eugenem Ore.

“I had a great visit, it really opened up my eyes,” Tagaloa said. “I think everyone always talks about the great facilities, the locker room and the crazy uniforms but what stood out to me the most was the academic support as well as the great coaching staff. The coaches are really involved with the players. It’s hard to explain, but the coaches live near campus and just seem to really develop close relationships with the guys on the team.

“As for the academics, honestly I was shocked what I saw. The academic center is incredible and I think that goes unnoticed by a lot of people. For me, academics are huge so I was really blown away by the academic support, the tutors and everything that goes with it.”

The Ducks play on the field was another thing that stood out for Tagaloa.

“Man, that offense is so explosive,” Tagaloa said. “It was close for a while and next thing you know, Oregon is up by three touchdowns. I think I would fit in well with the offensive scheme because they like athletic tackles that can move and I think that’s my strength.

“I’m pretty athletic for a big guy and the coaches were telling me how much they liked me and how well I would fit in. I haven’t set up any other visits but I want to check out Stanford, Cal and USC before I make my commitment anywhere.”
