OT Leo Pili looks to land late interest

12/31/2012

AUBURN, Wash. -- Standing in a suite at Emerald Downs during the Tanoa Bowl’s media day last week, Leo Pili (Seattle/Rainier Beach) set out a simple goal for his future.

“I’m trying to go somewhere,” the senior said.

The offensive tackle has impressive size. At 6-foot-10, he looms large on a football field. But he knows he needs to work on his lateral movement and footwork.

“I’ve got to be able to move fast when the D-end flies off the edge,” Pili said.

He has the size coaches covet and his raw ability was enough to convince Idaho and Wyoming to offer him a scholarship. However, with a little more than a month before signing day, he hopes to land a few more offers before making his decision.

“I’m happy with those,” he said. “I’m thankful I have at least some to fall back on.”

Schools looking to add depth along the offensive line could take a chance on Pili if there are open scholarships available before signing day.
